Foster a Child with Kibble | Begin your Fostering Career Today

Why Kibble?

24/7 Support

We offer round the clock support to young people and foster carers, so help is always at hand when you need it.

Family Placement Supervisor

Every foster carer shall have an allocated family placement supervisor. They shall meet with you regularly and be in contact with you as often as is required. We want you to feel wholly supported upon joining our fostering family. Each of our family placement supervisors has a manageable caseload. This ensures they have the time to fully respond and support each of our foster carers and young people.

Dedicated Key Worker

Every young person is allocated a key worker who provides support to both the young person and the foster carer. Young people spend time regularly with their key worker, which will include some weekend activities.

Carer Team Meetings

Fortnightly meetings alternate between our two current Hubs (Paisley and Hamilton). These meetings give foster carers the opportunity to discuss the needs of the young people with the care team. It’s also a positive space to share approaches that have been successful and gain support from other foster carers. Many of our foster carers have been approved with our service for over 15 years. Many have experiences to reflect upon when offering support to others in our fostering family.

Training and Qualifications

There are no pre-requisites to foster with Kibble as all training will be provided upon registration. The most important thing is that you enjoy working with children and young people and want to make a difference.

We shall support you to complete a comprehensive training programme to ensure you’re skilled and confident as a foster carer. In addition to attending preparation training (Skills to Care) and being supported to complete a few in person mandatory training modules including Safe Crisis Management and Trauma Informed Care we shall support you to access and complete some mandatory online training.

All full-time foster carers shall also be supported to attain the following qualifications:

• HNC Social Services
• SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People)

These qualifications are certified by the Scottish Qualifications Authority. They are delivered by Kibble trainers and external assessors at our main campus in Paisley. We work on an expectation that both courses should be completed within the first three years of your registration to become a foster carer with us.

We understand that the return to coursework and training can be a daunting concept. Our family placement supervisors are very skilled in supporting our foster carers through all aspects of training. We’ll be there for you to help you succeed!
