On a quest to seek out some of the UK’s top attractions this summer, young people and adults from our fostering service set their sights on the famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach!
The pinnacle of many a summer adventure, the thrill-seeking group made their way to the seaside theme park for a day of fun, fast-rides and friendship! Setting off weary-eyed at 7am, the group made their way by car, excitedly planning their busy agenda for the day whilst singing along to music by Dua Lipa and other bands. A quick pit stop at a service station for a picnic, they arrived at the Pleasure Beach and met the rest of the group.
For many of the five young people on the trip, this was their first time at the Pleasure Beach… and it’s safe to say it didn’t disappoint! With ages ranging from 13 to 19, some had their sights on the bigger, faster rides, where others were happy to opt for the more mellow rides! Certainly, that was the case for some of the adults, particularly our Fran who was happy to have her feet firmly on terra firma!
They decided to start off with the gentler rides, before building their way up to the thrill rides and end their day on a high. First up was the adventurous Nickelodeon Land where they enjoyed the many rides and climbed new heights on the Krusty Krab Order Up before plummeting back down with a whoosh! With the adrenaline building, the group then made their way to the Nickelodeon Streak where Fran screamed the whole way around – much to the amusement of the young people.
The excited group stopped by one of the Pleasure Beach’s most famed icon’s ‘The Laughing Clown’ who has been entertaining day-trippers with his infectious hearty laugh since 1935!
Next on the day’s agenda was to join the bobsleigh on the Avalanche before being hurtled at G-force speed on the Formula 1 Ride, the ICON. The Big One was off unfortunately which created the perfect excuse for another trip! After a few more rides and a stop off for a snack, the last experience of the day was a nail biting one! With trepidation, the group made their way to the truly terrifying Pasaje del Terror (Passage of Terror). Here, they journeyed through the spine-chilling maze of scenes and settings from horror films where they were met with the famous villains themselves. With lots of special effects and surprises along the way, the brave group screamed and ran their way through the interactive maze before bursting through the doors of the café where guests were waiting to greet the brave group.
As darkness fell, and with adrenaline running high, it was time to make the journey home. A day full of memories, experiences and laughter, we are already planning our next trip back to the seaside town for more fun and adventures under the famous Blackpool Tower.
